There’s No Accounting for Stupidity

Ever hd one of those days when you have to just shake your head and walk away? I had one yesterday. Where I work is fairly far from the front office and it’s a bit of a walk to get there. As a result, instead of takiing 10 mins for every cup of coffee, we have been using a thermos I brought from home to take coffee back to the inspection office. We had previously brought creamer and sugar back when I first started working in there. When we ran out of creamer, I brought back another can. Well that opened a can of worms. Apparently, we aren’t supposed to take it away from the coffee area. Yesterday, I inquired about where I could get another can of sugar, which prompted a nastygram from my director stating that taking coffee supplies like that was abuse. Now I don’t know about anyone else, but what is the point of having the coffee in the office if I still have to walk up front to make the cup? They say the coffee is for everybody, but if it was I think they would put it in the breakroom. I feel like I’m in one of those bank commercials where the kid gets to ride the bike but only in the itty bitty box delineated. Oh well. If they would rather I spend my time walking around the plant getting coffee than working, it’s fine with me.

  1. Just start bringing in donuts and tell them it’s “abuse” when they take them and eat them outside of the lab…Don’t you have a cappaccino/coffee maker at home? Just bring that in to work and tell them it’s “abuse” if anyone outside the lab uses it. 🙂
